GET INVOLVED
Most of our research requires in-person testing so we are always inviting people living with diabetes to contact us to get involved as participants in research.
TYPE 1 DIABETES STUDIES

If you have type 1 diabetes, are between the ages of 18 and 60, and interested in taking part in an exercise study, please email diabex@ualberta.ca.

We are recruiting all people living with T1D, but current studies are aimed at:
- ​​​post-menopausal women with type 1 diabetes
-
women with type 1 diabetes using hormonal birth control
-
people with type 1 diabetes aged 18-55


TYPE 2 DIABETES STUDIES

The Physical Activity and Diabetes Lab at the University of Alberta is looking for participants with type 2 diabetes who:
-
Are 18-40 years old
-
Had a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes in the previous 3 months to 6 years
-
Have HbA1c from 6.0% to 10%

Have excess weight, but weight stable over the previous 6 months
-
Are able to take part in structured exercise for 24 weeks
-
Are willing to participate in a low energy diet that requires abstinence from alcohol
